What makes Castor Oil special?

Castor Oil is quite different from many other botanical oils. It has a naturally rich, viscous texture and is particularly high in ricinoleic acid, the fatty acid largely responsible for its distinctive character.

Its thickness gives formulations excellent slip and richness, making it a popular ingredient in balms, body oils, cleansing oils, hair and scalp formulations and nail care.

It can also be blended with lighter botanical oils when a less viscous finished formulation is desired.

Can Castor Oil be used on its own?

Yes. Castor Oil can be used on its own as well as incorporated into cosmetic formulations, although its naturally thick consistency means many formulators choose to blend it with lighter botanical oils.

It works beautifully alongside oils such as Argan, Jojoba, Almond and Apricot Kernel Oil.
